1.A car moving at 20 m/s slows down at -2.0 m/s to a speed of 10.0 m/s. How far did the car go during the slow down?

And here’s another question…

2. A drag racer accelerates uniformly from rest on a straight track at 12 m/s for 5.5 s, maintains a speed it has reached for 3.0 s, and slows down to a stop at the rate of -14 m/s. What is the total distance traveled by the racer?

another one….

3. A baseball pitcher accelerates a ball from rest to 90 mi/hr while moving his hand 3.0 ft. Compute the balls acceleration , in ft/s while the pitcher’s hand?
sorry what I meant is
3. A baseball pitcher accelerates a ball from rest to 90 mi/hr while moving his hand 3.0 ft. Compute the balls acceleration , in ft/s while in the pitcher’s hand?

1) Use Equations of Motion.
v=10 U=20 a= -2 We need s
v^2 = u^2 + 2as
10^2 = 20^2 + 2 x -2 x s
100 = 400 + -4s Subtract the 400
-300 = -4s
s = -300/-4
s = 75m

2) v = u + at
v = 0 + 12 x 5.5
v = 66
s = 0.5(u+v)t
s = 0.5(66)x5.5
s= 181.5m
s = 0.5(66+66)x3
=198m
v^2 = u^2 + 2as
0 = 66^2 + 2 x -14 x s
0 = 4356 + -28s
-28s = -4356
s = -4356/-28
s = 155.6m
S total = 181.5 + 198 + 155.6
S = 535.1m

3) Your question doesnt make sense (Compute the balls acceleration , in ft/s while the pitcher’s hand?) what do you mean while the pitchers hand?
