What you need to know about Screen Printing

Access to new technologies has made custom printing cheaper and easier than ever for both the buyer and the seller. That’s the good news. The bad news is that there are more mediocre printers than ever before.  Because the startup costs are so low, many custom printers have little experience in the marketplace.

What to Look for?

Printing has never been a profitable business. Margins are paper thin, which means that many custom printers cut corners every chance they get. This is particularly true of people who are new to this age-old trade. After all, if a company has been doing things the same way for generations, they are more likely to cling to the old traditions. 

But new custom printers don’t have ties to the past. They often set up shop in a hurry and compete on price and high volumes. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that, per se. Fast food restaurants do the very same thing. In short, you get what you pay for.

Printing Methods

Screen printing Cupertino has been around for many years. It is the most popular method for new printers because it is cheap and affordable. Of course, it does require some skill. A custom printer must create a stenciled design, which is a kind of stamp that is attached to a wooden or aluminum screen. Once this design has been made or burned, the printer can produce as many customized screen printing Cupertino garments as he needs.

The method works best when the quantity is high and the design is simple. It is not nearly as effective when there are multiple colors and the design is intricate. In fact, few experienced printers would take on a project that involved a complicated image or polychromatic design if they had to use screen printing. Direct to garment printing is a relatively new method of custom garment printing in California. Laser printers that have been modified for clothing are used to transfer nearly any image or design onto a garment. Image quality, color, and accuracy are superior to Cupertino screen printing. Why doesn’t everyone select this method then?

For one thing, it’s more expensive. Direct to garment printing relies on costly equipment and printing inks to apply designs. We need also consider the fact that most custom print jobs are relatively simple. The average t-shirt or baseball cap can be stamped with a unique logo, slogan, or emblem using Cupertino screen printing. That may be why it is the most popular custom printing method on earth.
