Stats Baseball Risp
Why aren’t people talking about Jose Bautista being the best player in baseball?
At least right now. I mean, look at his stats.
13 HR, 1st MLB
358 avg, 2nd AL, 3rd MLB
31 Runs, T-1st MLB
35 Walks, 1st MLB
517 OBP, 1st MLB
798 SLG, 1st MLB
1.315 OPS, 1st MLB
The only knock are his 23 RBI. But he has come up to bat with RISP 25 times this season. He has walked 19 out of those 25 times. That means pitchers pitch around him with RISP.
So why do people rarely mention him as the best player in baseball? Is it because he plays in Canada, because this is a similar situation to when Halladay played for Toronto. He played stellar, and had some of the best seasons of his career, but it wasn’t until the trade that people really acknowledged him.
Now I’m a bit biased because I’m from Toronto. But what are some opinions?
You are going to hear him more acknoledge soon, especially with the numbers he puts up. Just wail til about mid season and if he keeps it up, people will be talking.
Plus he may have only hit .260 last year, but that was brough up from around low .200 from the seasons start, when he was lead off hitter.
