Mlb Baseball Minimum Salary
Why is there no salary floor in baseball?
Oh sure, there’s the major league minimum salary per player, around $400k, but why is there no total team payroll floor? All those small-market, also-ran teams that are never competitive (we’re looking at YOU, Kansas City, Pittsburgh) get plenty of money from both their individual revenue streams and from MLB’s central redistribution plans. Yet they just pocket the cash and put third-rate teams on the field.
Such continuous, pathetic performances cannot be explained COMPLETELY by front office incompetence and ineptitude, can it?
They’ve got the money, Bud should MAKE them spend it!
Baseball needs a salary floor, something around $45M (just rough guessing here). Do you agree?
I see where you are going with this and I agree with it too.
