How Soon Before A Regular Season Major League Baseball ( MLB) Game, Do You Know The Starting Pitchers?

Usually, the managers keep a set rotation. If the rotation stays in order, you could in theory look at the calendar and figure out who will pitch weeks in advance. However, the rotations don’t always stay in order. Pitchers get injured or managers will sometimes use off days to skip bad pitchers.

MLB usually lists the projected starters on its website three or four days in advance, unless the manager of the team is not yet sure who will pitch. As far as I am aware, there is no requirement for managers to say who is going to pitch in advance; usually they just do.

Even if they do announce the starting pitcher, it is not written in stone. In theory, a manager could change his mind at the last minute and tell someone else to pitch. Usually they don’t do this because the pitchers need time to prepare for the game, though.
