ESPN Fantasy Baseball – Should I trade Evan Longoria for Ryan Zimmerman?

I play in a ten team mixed league. We play H2H Categories.I know Longoria is one of the premier options in all of fantasy baseball, but I have had him for so long and he hasn’t helped out my team very much. Zimmerman is just 6 games back from the DL. Here are some stats.
Last 7 Days Batting:
Longoria- H/AB-2/24 Runs-4 HR-0 RBI-0 SB-0 BA-.083
Zimmerman- H/AB-7/28 R-4 HR-1 RBI-4 SB-0 BA-.250
Last 15 Days Batting: Longoria has gone just 8/38 – .211 BA and over the last 30 days he has gone just 20/83 – .241 BA with just 3 HR and one of those was a lucky inside-the-parker.
I know that Longoria has much better projections and had a better 2010 but this is such a long slump he has been in. My main questions are, How do you think the Nationals will provide Zimmerman with R and RBI opportunities as opposed to how the Rays will do the same for Longoria, and what do you think about Longoria pulling out of this slump within the next 15 – 45 days?

His slump rally isn’t that bad. He hit .263 with 4 HR in May after coming back from the DL, and he hit .296 with another HR from June 1 – June 12. He’s really only on a 7-game slump. Every player in the league will have a 7-game slump. Babe Ruth had 7-game slumps. You really shouldn’t panic.

The Rays have a better overall offense than the Nats, and Longoria hits cleanup usually so his RBI chances are higher. As a #3 hitter, Zimmerman might have better R potential, but the guys hitting behind him in the Washington lineup are worse than the guys behind Longoria, so that balances things out a little bit.

I’m a big Zimmerman fan and I own him in many leagues. But I would trade him straight 1-for-1 for Longoria in every league I’m in, because that’s an upgrade. Longoria will snap out of his slump, no question. Just be patient, and don’t focus so much on small sample sizes.
