PostHeaderIcon Famous Baseball Players List

Compared to the other 3 major North American team sports, what are hockey’s good points?

Here’s my list, in no particular order:

a) I think hockey, of the four sports, demands the most overall physical prowess — a combination of strength, speed, stamina, and agility

b) Hockey has rules (such as changing on the fly and delayed offside calls) that keep the game moving and flowing

c) Of the 4 major team sports, hockey is the most “international” — its star players all come from several different countries. The other sports seem to be dominated by Americans, though baseball has its fair share of stars from Latin America and Japan …

d) Though they’re not always angels, NHL players on the whole don’t seem to be getting into trouble with the law as often as the other sports’ guys do

e) It has (by far) the most famous and most recognizable championship trophy of the four major sports. Everybody knows what the Stanley Cup is, and what it looks like. Does anyone even know what the other sports’ trophies are called, or what they look like?
.

A league with several hundred fights every season will attract mostly creeps for fans. Pounding on the glass during fights, screaming for blood. Can you imagine football players taking off their helmets and fighting till they fell to the ground? While it may appeal to a creep like you, the other leagues would be ashamed. Hockey is an afterthought in the American sports scene. Many parents will not bring their kids to a hockey game, nor a cage fight or a dog fight. Hockey lacks class and control on the ice.
