College Baseball Scouting List
What Do i do to get scouts to look at me in high school if my high school is small and not popular?
i go to a high school in the bronx, its a small high school that just opened, but from the looks of it, there arent any scouts that will be coming around for a while. Im talking baseball Related. We play baseball with other Leagues around the Borough but i dont think thats good enough(Im playing with the Varsity team, they had to move me up from JV). My question is, what do i have to do to get a scout to look at me for the future, or to even get into Division 1 colleges.
Also can you please give me a list of good division 1 colleges for baseball. Ive been looking all over the web and cant find any.
I know many of you think its impossible, but ive been told that for a 16 year old, I have skills like a Professional. So im just working real hard to Keep this skill and not get injured in any way.
Thanks In advance!
Believe me, if you’re that good, the scouts WILL find you. That’s their job, and they do it very well. I know it seems like it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, but if you’re better than everyone else around you, you’ll stand out. They watch the games, they check the websites, they’ll find your stats (if you’re in a public school, psal.org is a very easy resource for them).
They find people in places that nobody would ever think of. But here’s the advantage for you; you’re playing in the Bronx. There are plenty of great players around, and scouts are buzzing up there. Scouts go to plenty of high-school games up there, and while they may be looking at a particular player, they’re also looking at everyone else.
For colleges, look at schools that have participated in the NCAA Division I Tournaments the last few years, and that’ll give you a pretty good idea of where the good ones are. Even in the area, St. John’s has had some players signed over the last few years. Call them up, find out what you’ll have to do.
Above all, just keep working hard. No matter how good you are, you can always get better. Though scouts are always looking, if you want to play professionally, you have a LONG way to go. There are thousands of others like you who want this as well, and there isn’t enough space for everyone. Make yourself stand out, and people will come. Keep up your work ethic, and max it out as much as you possibly can. Best of luck to you!
