2010 Baseball Hall of Fame Contender List Provides Excellence
The 2010 Baseball Hall of Fame inductees will be announced shortly and the register of potential players that could find themselves on that list is full of quality baseball players. Still, the jury is still out on whether or not any of that class is Hall of Fame valuable.
Roberto Alomar seems to be getting the most the media regarding who is worth mentioning on the list of 25 eligible players. He is one of thirteen first occasion ballot players being considered. One of his strong points is the reality that he has big offensive numbers when compared to other middle infielders of his era, but there is no obvious interpretation whether or not those offensive numbers are excellent enough to land him in Cooperstown.
This year’s list is filled of a number of of the best gloves of the past decade, which isn’t weighed nearly as heavily as the figures at the plate.
A few of those distinguished gloves include Alan Trammell, Don Mattingly, Edgar Martinez, Barry Larkin, Andres Galarraga, Roberto Alomar, RObin Ventura, Todd Zeile, and Ray Lankford.
There are also a handful of staff aces who will try to get in the Hall as they played for dreadful teams or in small cities. Among those aces are Pat Hetgen, Kevin Appier, and Jack Morris.
Fan favorites also pepper the list, but that isn’t sufficient to gain the approval of the baseball writers. Don Mattingly is most likely the favorite player on the list, but his lack of big numbers through his 13 years hurts his chances. Despite the fact that he had a great run from 1985 to 1990, outside that, his numbers dwindled due to back troubles.
At any degree, the list of inductees will be interesting. Don’t expect a lenghty list of men this year as the quality across the board is not high enough to get numerous of the players on this list over the bump.
