Baseball Seymour
(Rephrased) Why is it, hockey and baseball fights are accepted but football fights are so shocking to people?

When hockey players fight it is like get out of the way and let them duke it out for a while.
When baseball players fight they break it up but its not that unusual and always has been part of the game.
When Seymour smacked Roethlisberger and Andre Johnson clobbered Courtland Finnegan it shocked people. It seemed like it was over-reaction central.

I asked this question earlier and got reported for making a dumb comment so this is take 2!!

They just don’t happen a lot, people aren’t used to seeing football fights. Guys shove each other, and sometimes smack each other’s helmet, but it rarely gets to the point where helmets are coming completely off and guys are punching each other in the face.

Why that is, I’m not sure. But I’d guess because football is such a physical sport, and if you want to lay someone out all you have to do is wait until the next play and do it between the whistles.
