Baseball Practice Equipment
What should I say to him in this situation? Thanks?

My son is 14 and is on a youth baseball team, he is a catcher, and during practice catchers are only required to wear a catchers mask while catching, I would like him to wear all the protective equipment he can, but he says he doesnt need it because it is just practice. What areas should he be worried about getting hurt in particular while catching without protection?

game or practice-he can still get hurt. I was pitching to my brother a few years back(im a girl-so not as strong/fast as the boys), and another brother of mine pushed him outa the way b/c he wanted to catch-he was ready by the time the ball got to him, but he missed and got hit in the chest (i even threw lighter when i realized he was there), he ran inside and fell down non-responsive (i was 12 and he was 7 -if i was smart i woulda not thrown it, lucily he was ok after a minute or 2)—point is u can still get hurt in practice. If you feel he needs the equipment on for protection, kindly ask the coach to have him wear it. Make sure he at least has his cup on, and I would recommend the chest protection, but I guess if he’s ok with a bruise on his leg he’d b fine without the shin guard things. You are the parent and it is completely fine for you to want him protected.
