Is Matty Ott related to Mel Ott?
My great-great uncle is baseball hall of famer, Mel Ott. I was watching college baseball today and noticed a pitcher on LSU was named Matty Ott. Since Mel and Matty are both from Louisiana and I’m related to Mel, I was wondering if they’re related.
Wow, you’re very lucky to be related to Mel Ott.
Here’s what Matty Ott says about it:
“Since Mel Ott was from Gretna, everybody wanted to know if we’re related,” Matty Ott said this week before an LSU practice. “And he’s buried in Metairie, which is listed as my hometown in the LSU media guide. But I’m not from Metairie. We just lived there after the storm. As far as I know, we’re not related.”
