Baseball Hof Vote

I would love to here the reasons why a baseball writer would leave Ricky Henderson off his ballot?
The guy is a sure fire HOF player. Probably the best lead off hitter of all-time! Is it just that some guys won’t vote you in on your 1st ballot no matter who you are? If that is it they should lose their vote. What do you think?
Writers should not allow “little Quirks” to enter into the voting. I guy us either HOF material or he is not. I doubt any one had 12 other guys that they felt should be in and needed their vote more than Rickey. From what I have heard there is no limit to the # of names you can put on the ballot anyway. The writers pull this crap all the time. Another example is the golden glove voting. Think back to when Rafael Palmiero won at 1B when he played 20 games there. (The true winner should have been Tino Martinez). I hate to tell people how to vote but there are some guys that should be automatic on the ballot. Gwynn and Ripken are both examples. I also believe that they should have a fan vote and anyone that gets over 70% of the fan vote goes on the “Fan” ballot (which would count as one vote)
