Why does it seem baseball cards have lost value as a collectible item? I’m in possession of 1000′s of?

mostly modern era [03-present] upper deck baseball cards and it seems to me an almost pointless waste of time as to actually sell them all would bring in a deficit of nearly 90% of my money spent . Stick with coins I guess?

The one thing I try to remember , after selling for years (antiques, collectibles, etc.) Anything marketed as a “collectible” will almost NEVER bring you a decent return. Collect because you love an item, NOT for the notion that it might bring you profit.
I won’t even take cards on consignment..they simply don’t hold any worth, as they are very mass produced. Coins and gold are often a much better investment. Good luck!
