Angora has four enemies, heat, steam, agitation, and harsh alkali soaps. So that means, no washing machine, no tumble dryer and most definitely no dishwasher! Angora is best washed by hand in small basin or sink with cold water and a detergent designed for delicates. Fill a small sink with lukewarm water, add detergent and add the sweater. You can use mild shampoo such as baby shampoo to wash the sweater if you wish. Don’t use a shampoo with heavy greasy conditioners or “volumizers” Swish it around in the water and let it sit in the water briefly. drain the water and squeeze out the excess water gently. rinse in several sinks full of cold water. Do not use fabric softener. Gently squeeze out excess water. Do not place the sweater between two towels and press out more water, especially if the sweater if very fluffy. Never ever wring out your sweater or place it in the spin cycle of your machine. This will cause matting, pilling, shedding and shrinking. After allow the sweater to lay flat while it dries. It seems like work but if you take care of your sweater it should last for many years.
