How do i choose which US Uni/College to attend or Apply?
I want to go study in the USA in a year or 2 im currently working my butt off to raise money to do so. I’m a British Citizen. I would like to know how to choose from the 1000′s of University/College’s throughout the country. I have a basic criteria, as i just wish to play for as many sports teams as possible i.e basketball, baseball etc. and as for academics, i wish im not sure what i wish to study ideas of my interests for learning are 3D Animation, Photography, Sports Science, Philosophy and Music. In basic somewhere with a wide range of Majors so i can choose at a later date. Any info that would give me a better understanding on the US higher education system would also be useful.
Basically any of the Universities in the US offer programs in anything you can think of, so you don’t really need to worry about what you want to do just yet. In the US, you don’t have to declare a major until the beginning of your 3rd year at most institutions. As for sports, again almost every university has intramural sports programs (where you play competitively) and/or hitech recreation centers, so being able to play sports should not be a problem.
My suggestion for you is to figure out what part of the country you want to study in and start looking for colleges there. Especially look at state universities first, as they are usually easier to get into. If you are strong academically, you can also look at highly ranked private institutions, as they generally give great financial aid and resources to international students.
For example, if you want to study in the Northeast US, look at colleges like New York University, Boston University, Boston College, etc….
